It has been wonderful welcoming our students back to school! The energy, excitement, and smiles they bring into the building each day are a wonderful reminder of what makes Saddle Peak so special. I am incredibly thankful to be part of this community and grateful for the partnership and support of our families.

At Saddle Peak, we take great pride in developing not only strong learners, but also kind, responsible, and confident young people. Character education is an important part of our work because the skills students use to manage their choices, work through challenges, and care for others directly support their success in school and beyond. By focusing on one character trait each month and using consistent language at school and at home, we can work together to help our Panther Cubs grow.

Our character trait for September is responsibility.

At Saddle Peak, responsibility means taking ownership of our choices, completing what is expected, caring for our school and belongings, and making things right when we make a mistake.

Responsibility connects directly to our schoolwide reflection process:
PAUSE — Stop and think about what happened.
REFLECT — Consider your choices and take ownership of your part.
ROAR — Decide how to make it right and choose a responsible action moving forward.

You can help reinforce responsibility at home by:

  • Giving your child age-appropriate jobs or chores
  • Encouraging them to pack their backpack and care for their belongings
  • Allowing them to solve small problems independently
  • Asking, “What was your part?” when a problem occurs
  • Helping them create a plan to repair a mistake
  • Recognizing responsible choices with specific praise, such as, “You remembered what you needed without being reminded. That was responsible!”
Responsibility does not mean never making mistakes. It means learning to acknowledge our choices, repair harm when needed, and make a better decision next time. Thank you for partnering with us as we help every Panther Cub learn to PAUSE, REFLECT, and ROAR!

September Reminders
  • Monday, September 7: No school in observance of Labor Day
  • Tuesday, September 8: Students who walk to the middle school after dismissal must have a signed Middle School Walker permission slip on file. Beginning September 8, students without a permission slip will not be allowed to leave with the Middle School Walker group, and a parent or guardian will be contacted.
  • Thursday, September 10: School Picture Day
