Saddle Peak Elementary | October Parent Newsletter

Dear Saddle Peak Families,
As we head into October, I want to take a moment to thank you. The first weeks of school have brought new routines, new friendships, and plenty of learning for our Panther Cubs. Through it all, our families have been wonderful partners. Thank you for encouraging your children, helping them get ready each morning, sharing important information with us, and trusting us to care for them during the school day. We know how much you do behind the scenes, and we appreciate you.

October Character Trait: Respect

This month, we are focusing on Respect. Respect is part of how we ROAR at Saddle Peak, and it shows up in everyday choices: listening when someone is speaking, using kind words, taking care of our classrooms and playground, and remembering that others may think or feel differently than we do.
Children learn a great deal by watching the adults around them. At home, you can model respect by listening to your child’s thoughts, speaking calmly when you disagree with someone, and saying “I’m sorry” when you make a mistake. You can also ask, “What did respect look like at school today?” or “How could you respond if a friend has a different idea?” These conversations give children a chance to think through real situations and practice what they are learning.

Please Keep in Touch

You know your child best, and we want to work with you. If your child is having a hard time with a friendship, seems worried about school, needs more support with learning, or tells you something that raises a question, please reach out early. You do not need to wait until a concern feels big. Your child’s teacher is a great first point of contact, and we are here to help when more support is needed.
We also love hearing about the good things! If your child comes home excited about something they learned or proud of a new friendship, please share that with us. Staying connected helps us celebrate your child and support them well.

Coming Up in October

We are looking forward to our Walkathon on October 14! Please look out for more information about the event and how families can participate.
We are also planning a Fall Parent Night and hope you can join us. We’ll share the date and details soon, so stay tuned!
  • October 14: Walkathon
  • October 15–16: No school
  • October 22: Picture retakes
Thank you for the many ways you support our school and one another. We are grateful to have you as part of the Saddle Peak family. Greatness grows here!
