We're a TEAM!
At Saddle Peak, we are a TEAM!
We work together for student success. Explore below to learn more about our behavior support system.
We use a tiered approach to support all students and keep our school a safe, positive place to learn and grow!
Tier 1: Everyday Expectations (Green Zone)
- Most students live here
- Tier 1 happens by positive reminders, praise, class rules and routines
- The classroom teacher gives feedback and helps students reset quickly
- Parents can help by celebrating positive choices and effort, talking to your child about their day and what went well, supporting their routines for homework, bedtimes, responsibilities and overall responsible behavior.
The Oops-But-Not-Awful Zone (Gray Area)
- This is a grey-area-not-so-gold-star moment, but not a big trouble event either
- Gentle re-teaching, quick conversations, small logical consequences work best here
- The classroom teacher handles this zone, looping parents/guardians in as needed
- Parents can help by listening calmly, talking through what happened, helping your child problem solve, make better choices and reinforcing learning from mistakes.
Tier 2: Extra Support (Yellow Zone)
- Tier 2 is the zone where repeated behaviors and bigger disruptions that need more support are addressed
- This is accomplished by behavior plans, parent/guardian contact, check-ins, possibly counselors or support staff becoming involved
- The classroom teacher and necessary support staff work together and communicate with parents/guardians
- Parents chan help by staying in regular communication with your child’s teacher, following through with agreed-upon strategies and plans, encouraging positive choices and regular attendance and reaching out for support. Remember – you are not alone – we are a TEAM!
Tier 3 & 4: (Orange & Red Zone)
- This is the We-Need-To-Make-A-Plan Zone where repeated behaviors are not improving with Tier 2 planning
- These tiers include making a formal behavior plan with structured support, logical consequences, team meetings, possible out-of-school suspension/in-school suspension
- At these tiers, a behavior interventionist, school counselor, parent/guardian and administrator would become involved together to support the student
- Parents can help by working closely with the school team and attend meetings, follow the plan consistently at home, provide encouragement and structure at home, help the student build self-control through strategies learned and to seek support services as needed.
Thank you for partnering with us. When we work together, every student can learn, grow and be their very best!
